Adam studied philosophy and history at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. He taught philosophy at the University of Durham, UK, before taking up his current position teaching International Studies and International Development at the University of Canberra, Australia. He is the author of Kant on Representation and Objectivity (Cambridge, 2004), and various papers in cultural history and philosophy.
