Biophilia, simply put, is the love of nature. The term was popularized by EO Wilson's 1984 book Biophilia, in which he argued that humans have an innate tendency to seek connections with other forms of life. This idea is known as the 'biophilia hypothesis'.
More recently, the importance of biophilia as a human trait has been validated by the growing body of evidence suggesting that time spent in contact with, and in the surrounds of, more-than-human life is of great importance for our mental wellbeing.
